Carey's Choice: Turning Clients into Wallpaper Converts

Interior decorators often start with the floor and work up. Not Carey Jacobs of Carey Lind Design, whose top-down approach revolves around gutsy wallpapers.

She can’t help it: Carey’s keen eye was cultivated from childhood when her father bought 19th-century York Wallcoverings and then turned it into a globally sought-after brand. Yet, the Maryland-based designer never pushes the product – most client “converts” have simply seen her home. Case in point: the teal floral that makes Carey’s kids jump for joy in her guestroom may otherwise languish as a wallflower in a sample book.

As a connoisseur of oft-maligned and misunderstood wallpaper, Carey goes where others fear to tread. To see how she uses wallpaper in her interior design projects, click on each image.
