We all need an escape. How else to explain that 2 billion people around the world tuned in to watch a Prince marry his princess? We get swept up in the pageantry, the beautiful details – the romance and magic of it all.

A similar impulse has wallpaper designers giving the royal treatment to patterns — luminous and lacey layers of pigment; cut crystal jewels; glass beads and glitter-infused sand — little extras that add subtle sparkle and surprise to walls, and make us feel our home truly is our castle.
